Test Contest Queue before it ships
Contest Queue beta testing. Open to anyone who wants in.
Join
On Android, joining swaps your install for the test build the next time the Play Store updates it, and your data stays where it is. On iPhone you'll install Apple's TestFlight app first, which is where test builds live. Both are free, and you can leave whenever you like.
What this is
Contest Queue runs the backstage of a barbershop contest: the order of appearance, who is on deck, and the scores as they land.
Test builds come out well before public ones, often several a week. They have the new things in them first, and sometimes the new problems too: a feature that half works, a screen that looks wrong, the occasional crash.
What I need from you
Tell me when something breaks, and roughly what you were doing. That's the whole job. “The list screen went blank after I renamed something” is worth more than a bug report with a stack trace, because it tells me where to look.
Report from inside the app: Account → About → Report an Issue. It sends the version, your device and your account along with your note, which usually saves a round of “which build were you on?”. If the app won't open far enough for that, use the contact form.
About your data
Contest Queue is used live, during real contests, by people who cannot stop and troubleshoot. I do my best to make sure a test build never damages a convention's data, and most never come close, but that risk is the one real cost of being a tester. So please don't run a test build at an event you are responsible for: try it between contests, or on a convention you have made for practice.
Leaving
Android: open the same Play link and choose to leave the programme, then reinstall from the store to get the public build. iPhone: delete the TestFlight copy and install Contest Queue from the App Store as normal.
